There are three categories of UL listings for central stations, Burglary, Fire and Automated Standard #1981. Automated Standard #1981 is the highest category of listings requiring computer aided dispatch systems and totally redundant telephone and power supply systems. Standard #1981 also has strict personnel requirements based on number of accounts. The other standards only require one operator and one runner regardless of the number of accounts being monitored and there is no automation requirements. Currently there are less than 50 central stations that have obtained the 1981 standard. We are proud to say that we were one of the very first.
